He’s a prominent tattoo artist based out of New York, currently showing at O.H.W.O.W. in Miami until May 9th. Laser-cut stuff’s awesome. Check his site for some more tattoo and other artwork.

Léopold Foulem: Récupération exhibition at the Gardiner Museum of ceramic art in Toronto until May 3, 2009. “Campy playfulness meets historic traditions in this overview of recent works by a celebrated contemporary ceramist, Léopold L. Foulem. Foulem combines decals and cheap found materials with a virtuoso technique, bridging the space between popular culture and high art in a single dazzling leap”.

Paper animations and photography have really blown up lately. Kelly’s definitely not the first to explore this area, but he’s still doing some really interesting work (particularly liking his more recent ‘Democracy’ and ‘The Seed’). There’s an interview up on Don’t Panic, check his site to see more.

Philips is creating some pretty trippy, unique, cinematic mini movies to promote their various products. It seems to be working - look at me wanting to show you these, they are very nice. Watch an online mini movie to promote “real cinema experience at home with state of the art picture and sound quality in all Philips TV ranges”.

Leandro Erlich is known for creating installation environments that momentarily question our sense of balance or space. Click here to see a video of his “Carrousel” (shown above).

He’s a young designer that recently moved back to Hong Kong from Toronto. Lots of interesting work up on his Behance page, as well as on his flickr. I particularly like the ‘Make Something Cool Every Day’ stuff (not the first to do this, but it’s still a good practice).

I saw this on QBN and had to share it, some next-level programing. I’ve seen blacked-out screens before (usually done with a fill colour on a higher than zero z-index), but never something as controlled as this. Check it here, nicely done.

An amazing piece from NL, this is going to be the Taipei Performing Arts Center in China. There’s a lot of great work on their site, make sure you click the images on the left. It was also nice to see them use illustrations for people in the renderings, instead of those awkward looking clippings that normally get placed. Like random guy checking watch, couple walking, and woman with shopping bags (each of which are usually lit from different directions and heavily pixelated). Enjoy.

I love this tv commercial from Spain. I really wonder what would happen if it was translated into English and played on TV’s in Canada? What do you think? What kind of response would it get in Canada? or the US?

Dan Vojtech’s photography website, have a look. Liking the sport section.
