
The aqua-blue swimming pool is an icon of suburbia, however a new idea is starting to gain traction: convert pools into natural “swimming ponds.” By eliminating the lips on traditional pools, and creating a miniature wetland around it, plants–rather than electricity or chemicals–can do the work of creating clean, clear water. Companies such as Clear Water Revival (shown above), Natural Swimming Pools, and Total Habitat create both brand-new ponds, and retrofit old swimming pools.

If only I lived in Michigan I would be able to drink water out of a carton and not just chocolate milk.

I’ve come across Carlo’s work in a few different places as of late. He frames a lot of his shots below the horizon, or amidst some kind of thick fog. It gives them a really distinctive feel, like you don’t know where on earth he could have shot it. No? Something like that though. more
